The Community Grocer
Overview
The Community Grocer is a non-profit organization engaged in advocacy and collective action, dedicated to solving one of the most important challenges of today, food deserts. With the backing of Philadelphia community leaders, and the strength of a diverse grassroots coalition, TCG is setting the pace for change so that those who are underserved and those in poverty can have access to healthier meals.
The Community Grocer is a non-profit organization engaged in advocacy and collective action, dedicated to solving one of the most important challenges of today, food deserts. With the backing of Philadelphia community leaders, and the strength of a diverse grassroots coalition, TCG is setting the pace for change so that those who are underserved and those in poverty can have access to healthier meals.
In 2023 Philadelphia’s poverty rate was 23.1% - double the national average. Nearly 250,000 residents are estimated to be food insecure. By leveraging snap benefits, from farm to table, TCG is re-imagining the corner store, and creating better healthier outcomes for communities in Philadelphia.
The winning design solution helped reimagine the The Community Grocer brand as a best-in-class, up-and-coming non-profit. By leaning into a symbol reminiscent of produce while communicating collective action, we were able to develop a bold and modern logo and design system to amplify TCG's mission of making eating well easier.
